Apulainen

Rauno is so helpful. We run out of toilet paper and he runs to the closet to get a new roll. Then, he sees that there's no bag in the trash bin and runs to the kitchen to get a bag for it. Wow. He likes to vacuum crumbs with the hand held vacuum too. Washing dishes is fun, but I get nervous w/ the glass.

Ricki Lake's The Business of Being Born

Tuesday I will bring up the possibility of hosting a "special benefit screening" or a "sneak preview" of The Business of Being Born with our chapter, ICAN of Gainesville. The producers want grassroots organizations to host private screenings before Thanksgiving since that's when they're coming out with the documentary in 14 bigger cities. The movie is an 85-minute long documentary about out-of-hospital birth.

New Job

So I have this new part-time job as a neuropsychology prof's assistant in the VA hospital. I hate being in the hospital itself and am always freaking out about washing my hands. But, the people are friendly, the job is not stressful and I get to walk back and forth to campus and get exercise. Mainly I push papers around on a desk. This is the website of the lab, Brain Imaging Rehabilitation and Cognition: http://birc.phhp.ufl.edu I've replaced the woman in the middle with the purple blouse. My boss is the man on the left wearing a tie. Now they're dealing with stoke patients who have language impairment and with people who have Gulf War Syndrome. Later I'll hopefully be put to do some work within the research as well.

our greatest fear
nelson mandela quoted
by marianne williamson

our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate
but that we are powerful beyond measure

it is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us.
we ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant
gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous

actually who are you not to be?
you are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some; it is in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we consciously give
other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

Kielet

Kotona puhumme kolmee kielta.

Walking...

Ruusa is walking! This started 8/8; so like over a week ago. First she took a few steps. Now if she's feeling really confident, she'll walk across a room. It's like a robot walk. Very careful. Rauno began walking a month earlier. My mom told me I didn't start until a year and 3 months. On another note, in the car, she's a real screamer now. Thank god I'm not driving back with her.
